The City of Trenton has announced the appointment of Thomas “Tommy” Wright of Jefferson County, Missouri as the next Police Chief of Trenton. Wright was selected from over fifty applications submitted nationwide.

Two squads hovering around the .500 mark battled for three sets on Monday night at Chillicothe High School, with the host Lady Hornets moving one game above the break-even mark with a 25-12, 19-25, 25-18 victory over the Trenton Lady Bulldogs.
The Trenton Lady Bulldogs were able to hold off a series of challenges from Chillicothe to claim a 6-2 win at Danner Park in Chillicothe on Monday night, in the regular season finale for both teams, heard live on KTTN FM 92.3.
A fire on Sunday afternoon destroyed a Spickard residence. Fire Department Training Officer Jesse Richman said nothing of value was saved from the Shanna Tranthan family residence at 505 Jewell. The five member family was not home at the time of the blaze, believed to have been caused by an electrical issue. Firefighters were on the scene about 3 1/2 hours.

The rival Trenton Lady Bulldogs and Chillicothe Lady Hornets won semifinal challenges from Midland Empire Conference competition on Monday afternoon, advancing to the Class 1, District 16 championship match this (Tuesday) afternoon at 4 o'clock.
The Brookfield Lady Dogs and Trenton Lady Bulldogs have advanced out of district play, with Brookfield finishing first and Trenton second in Monday's competition at the Kirksville Country Club. Brookfield's winning score was 432 with Trenton at 449. All five members of the top TWO teams, along with the OTHER top 10 scores individually, advance to sectionals next Monday, October 8th in Chillicothe.
The Meadville Eagles broke the four-year stranglehold on the Missouri boy's softball state championship held by the Jefferson Eagles, rolling through the semifinals and championship game on Saturday to win the state title.
Five people received what the Highway Patrol called SERIOUS injuries in the head-on collision of a sport utility vehicle and a car west of Polo on Saturday afternoon. The driver of the SUV, 49-year old Kenneth Pierson of Plattsburg, was taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.
A young Chillicothe boy was injured when, according to the Highway Patrol, the motorcycle he was driving went out of control in a mud hole on private property and the youth was thrown off. Injuries were described as MODERATE for seven year-old Lane Sampsel of Chillicothe. He was taken by ambulance to Hedrick Medical Center.
A missing 78-year old Brookfield man was located safe around 12 noon on Sunday in Hartford, Illinois, which is just north of St. Louis. Hartford Police said Francis Moseley stopped at a gas station, went inside the building, told people he was lost, and asked for directions. A police spokesman said Moseley seemed a little disoriented. Although people at the gas station did not know Moseley was missing, police were contacted.
Student enrollment for the fall semester is down slightly at North Central Missouri College of Trenton; but it is still up considerably when compared to six years ago. Community college enrollment across Missouri also is down a bit but a sizeable increase is noted for the past six years overall.
