KTTN/KGOZ News : Beef industry scholarships now available

Ten scholarships of $1,500 each are being awarded to students studying for a future in the beef industry. The awards are sponsored by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) in cooperation with the National Cattlemen’s Foundation to graduating high school seniors or full-time undergraduate students enrolled at two-year or four-year institutions for the 2013-2014 school year.

Silas Bohannan, a North Central Missouri College sophomore from Neosho, Missouri has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at the University of Missouri next fall. Bohannan (or, as he is known on the baseball field, “Sibo”) will play at Mizzou for his junior and senior years of athletic eligibility.

Automobile Accidents : Tuesday night accident injures Mercer woman

One person was injured in Mercer early on Tuesday evening, when the Highway Patrol reports a car was rear-ended in a 5:45 collision that happened on Mercer County Route M. Injuries were described as minor for 42-year old Dana Stark of Mercer, who was transported by ambulance to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.

The Trenton Police Department's selective traffic enforcement efforts through next Sunday (November 25th) involve 5th Street near Linn, Harris Avenue, and Oklahoma Avenue. Officers will be looking for traffic violations, such as speeding, careless and imprudent driving, and failure to halt at stop signs.

A Milan boy was hurt when a car collided with a sport utility vehicle east of Milan on Saturday morning. Eight-year old Jordan Axume was taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, with what the Highway Patrol called minor injuries.

The Stacy Center in Princeton hosts a "Winter Wonderland" event on Saturday, December 1st from 9 to 2 o'clock. Local vendors will be at the Stacy Center for people wishing to do Christmas shopping. Princeton High School students will provide gift wrapping and entertainment. Among the entertainers will be a gymnastics group performing tumbling routines.

Automobile Accidents : Pickup truck crash injures New Cambria man

A New Cambria resident was injured early Sunday morning when the pickup truck he was driving went off Highway 149 and hit a tree and fence near the north city limits of New Cambria. Twenty-four year old Michael Mallett was taken to University Hospital in Columbia (by helicopter), with injuries described as MODERATE by the Highway Patrol.

A Chillicothe woman is hospitalized in Kansas City following a roll-over accident Monday night in rural Livingston County. The Highway Patrol said 32 year old Amanda Robinson was SERIOUSLY injured, and flown by medical helicopter to St. Luke's Hospital on the Plaza.
