The Trenton freshman boy's basketball team picked up a road win on Monday night, going to Unionville and downing the host Putnam County Midgets by a score of 36-27. Brice Dillon had 17 points and Kail McCarter 14 for the freshmen Bulldogs, who next play at Chilliocothe on Tuesday night, December 4th at 6 o'clock. |

KTTN/KGOZ Sports : Iowa-Missouri "Border War" starts today in Unionville

Basketball teams from Iowa and Missouri will face each other in the first annual Putnam County "Border War" tournament on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday nights of this week. Iowa schools participating are Albia, Centerville, Davis County, and Eddysville-Blakesburg. They will meet Missouri teams from Clark, Schuyler, and Putnam Counties over the three day event. Each of the Iowa squads will play one game during the week, while the Missouri teams will each play three games. |

The Main Street Chillicothe organization is putting together an event this Wednesday evening in which young people can shop for Christmas gifts costing less than $15.00. All purchases will be gift-wrapped at no charge by representatives of Alpha Delta Rho chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. The children also will be able to create Christmas cards to accompany the gifts. |

Trenton Police are investigating a "first degree burglary" incident from early Saturday evening in the 1600 block of Merrill. Police Chief Tommy Wright said a white female reported hearing someone in her home, and a short time later upon entering the residence, she encountered a man inside. |

A Carrollton resident was hurt when the Highway Patrol says the car she was driving went off a road north of Chillicothe, after she skidded to avoid a deer. Sixteen year old Makayla Moritz was taken to Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe with injuries described as minor. |

Automobile Accidents : Osborn woman injured in Sunday night accident

A woman from Osborn was injured early on Sunday night when her car went out of control, skidded off U.S. Highway 36, overturned, and caught fire. The accident happened in the westbound lanes two miles east of Osborn. The Highway Patrol said 20-year old Keishia Youtsey was pulled from her car by an unknown passerby, and taken by ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center, with SERIOUS injuries. |

Conservation officials say they do not plan immediate measures to compensate for deer losses to hemorrhagic diseases, but they will look carefully at harvest information, reports of sick deer and hunter surveys when considering future hunting regulations. They note hunter's key role managing deer numbers and suggest shooting fewer does if hunters notice declining deer numbers. |

An Albany man was injured on Monday night in his hometown when he reportedly failed to halt his truck at a stop sign, drove across a street, and struck a light pole. Forty-three year old Robert Sweat was taken by ambulance to Northwest Medical Center in Albany with what the Highway Patrol described as MODERATE injuries. |

The Penney High School Hornets scored four touchdowns in less than six minutes of fourth quarter action, blowing open a tight game in St. Louis, as Hamilton won the Class 1 state championship game on Friday afternoon over the Valle Catholic Warriors by a score of 60-34. Hamilton's win gives the school its third state title in four years, with the Hornets having won the Class 1 state title in 2009, and the Class 2 crown in 2010. |

A large crowd was in attendance, with preliminary figures indicating between $6,500 and $7,000 being raised. |

A Weatherby man was hurt on Saturday afternoon when the car he was driving overturned off Highway 6 west of Winston. Sixty-eight year old John Stith was taken to Liberty Hospital with what the Highway Patrol called minor injuries. |

A Green City resident was hurt early Sunday morning when the sport utility vehicle she was driving overturned east of Milan. Twenty-year old Anastacia Thomas of Green City was taken by private vehicle to Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan, with injuries described as minor by the Highway Patrol. |

Ten scholarships of $1,500 each are being awarded to students studying for a future in the beef industry. The awards are sponsored by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) in cooperation with the National Cattlemen’s Foundation to graduating high school seniors or full-time undergraduate students enrolled at two-year or four-year institutions for the 2013-2014 school year.

Silas Bohannan, a North Central Missouri College sophomore from Neosho, Missouri has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at the University of Missouri next fall. Bohannan (or, as he is known on the baseball field, “Sibo”) will play at Mizzou for his junior and senior years of athletic eligibility. |
