News : Trenton teen injured in accidental shooting

A Trenton boy is hospitalized after what Sheriff Rodney Herring describes as an accidental shooting. The incident happened Monday afternoon while four teenage boys from Grundy County were hunting along Muddy Creek, south of the waste water treatment plant in Trenton.

A single vehicle accident on Monday afternoon injured a Winston man. At a location five miles northwest of Gallatin, the Highway Patrol reported that a tanker truck driven by 39-year old John Finton of Winston traveled off Route DD while negotiating a curve.

A Jamesport resident was hurt when the car she was driving hit the rear of a tractor-trailer unit on Highway 36 west of Cameron. Fifty-nine year old Carolyn Huston of Jamesport was taken by private vehicle to Cameron Regional Medical Center, with injuries described as minor by the Highway Patrol.

Trenton High School Class of 2010 graduate Aubrey Utley fired a seven-hit shutout for the Central Methodist Eagles, leading her softball team to a 2-0 victory over the Houston-Victoria (Texas) Jaguars in an opening round game in the 2012 NAIA National Championship Tournament in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

The Lady Bulldogs advanced to state in seven events (including five first place finishes), while the Trenton boys advanced in five events (including four firsts).

The Lady Wildcats of Southwest High School earned 81 points on Saturday afternoon to claim the team championship at the Class 1, Section 3 event held at Marshall High School. The Concordia Orioles won the boy's event with 124 points, 27 more than the 97 put up by the runner-up Princeton Tigers.
