KTTN/KGOZ News : Premium Standard Farms announces name change to "Murphy Brown of Missouri LLC"

The PAR Broadcast Group has been notified of an upcoming name change for Premium Standard Farms LLC of Princeton. A letter from General Manager Michael Rainwater reports the company will be changing its name to "Murphy Brown of Missouri LLC" by the end of this calendar year. The name change is described as "recognizing greater alignment with Murphy Brown LLC and Smithfield Foods Incorporated". |

In the Novinger Tournament in late November, both the Milan girl's and boy's basketball teams tasted defeat against their in-county rivals from Green City. On Thursday night from Milan High School, the Wildcats got payback against the Gophers in a double-dip broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and 'Internet TV' on www.kttn.com. |

KTTN/KGOZ Sports : Mercer girls and boys move onto HDC Tournament championship games

The North Mercer Cardinal basketball teams steamrolled their competition on Wednesday night in the semifinals of the HDC Conference Basketball Tournament being played in Mercer. The Lady Cardinals, in the first semifinal game of the night, beat Pattonsburg 76-29, with Sierra Michaelis scoring 33 points, Courtney Owens 17, and Hayley Sample 12 (on four three-point makes). Pattonsburg was led by Rheanna Gardner's 10 points, in falling into the third place game on Friday night. |

The Director of the Missouri Division of Drug and Crime Control, Captain Sarah Eberhard, has announced the arrest of Glenn Head for the murder of William Bacon. On Tuesday, Missouri Highway Patrol troopers arrested the 59-year old Head for SECOND degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the death of 67-year old William Bacon of Novelty. |

Automobile Accidents : Wednesday morning crash injures Tina woman

A Tina resident received what the Highway Patrol called SERIOUS injuries on Wednesday morning when the car she was driving overturned off U.S. Highway 65. Sixty-year old Barbara Mattox of Tina was flown by medical helicopter to Liberty Hospital. |

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has confirmed a photograph of a mountain lion taken December 12th by a trail camera on private land in DeKalb County, north of Cameron. |

The Grundy R-5 boys won the consolation championship of the HDC Conference Basketball Tournament on Thursday night, defeating Pattonsburg by a final score of 67-47. Brody Hatcher led Grundy with 21 points, with Clayton Radcliff adding 20, and Mason Larson 15. Pattonsburg's Tyler Fore scored 18 points. |

Authorities in Livingston County are looking for at least one suspect stemming down an investigation into two recent home burglaries that allegedly occurred during the early morning hours while occupants were sleeping. One was northwest of Chillicothe and the other was inside Chillicothe's city limits. |

Automobile Accidents : Bucklin woman injured in Highway 129 accident

A Bucklin resident was hurt, when according to the Highway Patrol, she swerved her car to miss an animal in the road, and the vehicle went into a ditch. Sixty-three year old Joyce Herriman of Bucklin was taken to Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield, with injuries described as minor. |

Very little information (as of Thursday morning) has been released by authorities concerning a fatal shooting that happened on Tuesday evening near Powersville, in Putnam County. The Putnam County Sheriff's Department is quoted as reporting the shooting claimed the life of eight-year old Rowdee Valentine. |
