The Trenton High School wrestling team continues to show strong improvement through the early portion of January, defeating Marceline 41-23 on the road (on January 10th) before splitting a home triangular with the Polo Panthers and Brookfield Bulldogs on Tuesday, January 15th. The Trenton Lady Bulldogs, after struggling for two quarters of play on Tuesday night at Chillicothe, exploded on the Lady Hornets in the third quarter to the tune of a 20-4 advantage, in a 53-41 win that moves the Lady Bulldogs to 14-1 on the season, going into next week's highly anticipated Hamilton Basketball Tournament. |

Automobile Accidents : Accident near Dawn injures one

A Wednesday morning accident in rural Livingston County injured a man from Dawn. The Highway Patrol said 26-year old Bradley Baughman received SERIOUS injuries and was taken to Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe. |

Automobile Accidents : Stewartsville man injured in Highway 36 wreck

A Stewartsville resident was hurt when the pickup truck he was driving went off Highway 36 near Cameron and hit an embankment and a culvert. Fifty-five year old Ricky Shanks of Stewartsville was taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, with injuries described as MODERATE by the Highway Patrol. |

The State Milk Board has announced that Homestead Creamery of Jamesport is voluntarily withdrawing a batch of its Flory's Favorite Cheese from the marketplace. Preliminary test results received from the Missouri State Health Laboratory indicate the cheese may be contaminated with Shiga-Toxin-producing E.coli, which can lead to food-borne illness. Confirmatory tests are ongoing. |

The Trenton wrestling team will HOST Brookfield and Polo in a Tuesday night triangular at Trenton High School, and comes into the competition with its best momentum of the season, after a 41-23 win at Marceline on Thursday night, January 10th. |

The North Central Missouri Children's Advocacy Center will host a Champagne and Diamond dinner and dance on Saturday, February 16th at the Chillicothe Country Club. There is a social hour from 5 to 6 o'clock, and dinner at 6, followed by dancing and a live auction. |

Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox has announced the promotion of Sergeant Michael Claypole to Chief Deputy Sheriff. Claypole has been employed by the L.C.S.D. since 2008. He has also worked as an officer and sergeant for the Chillicothe Police Department. He began his law enforcement career in 1999 with the Buchanan County Sheriff's Department. |

Automobile Accidents : Carrollton woman injured after deer hits car

A Carrollton woman, 19-year old Hannah Davis, received minor injuries when her southbound car was struck in the side by a deer. The accident early on Tuesday evening was on Highway 65 in Carroll County, just north of Route J. The Highway Patrol said Ms. Davis was taken by ambulance to Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. Damage was minor to the car. The driver was using a seat belt. |

Two prizes will be awarded to the champion of the First Annual "Texas Hold 'Em" poker tournament on Saturday, January 19th in Chillicothe, sponsored by the North Missouri Sportsman's Alliance. The champion will receive a Quest Heat compound bow donated by North Missouri Outdoors and a 10-22 Ruger rifle donated by Rogers Pawn an Gun valued at more than $800.00. The poker tournament is a fundraiser for the Share the Harvest program of Livingston, Daviess, Linn, and Carroll Counties. |

The Caldwell County Sheriff's Department is investigating a Friday night shooting in Breckenridge (January 11th) that claimed the life of 12-year old Steven Curtis. Authorities were called to 58 West Maple in Breckenridge to a report of a juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound. |

The North Mercer girls and boys basketball teams won championships in the Milan Tournament on Saturday night, with the Lady Cardinals taking the Milan title for the FOURTH straight year, and the boys taking the first-place hardware for the first time since 2001. |

The third-ranked Trenton Lady Bulldog basketball team was able to withstand a poor first-half against Princeton in Thursday night's semifinal, dominating the second half against the Lady Tigers in a 50-19 final, and then rolling past the host South Harrison Lady Bulldogs in Saturday night's championship game, 58-41. |

KTTN/KGOZ News : Lake Viking "Polar Plunge" scheduled for Saturday, February 2nd

The annual Polar Plunge at Lake Viking, held to raise money for Special Olympics Missouri, will be Saturday, February 2nd. This is a project of the Lake Viking Association, the Daviess County Sheriff's Department, and the Chillicothe and Crossroads Correctional Centers. Registration for the plunge starts at 12 noon at the Lake Viking Clubhouse, with a parade of costumes at 1:30, and plunging beginning at 2 o'clock. |
