The Green Hills Community Action Agency will be holding an open house this Wednesday, at a home constructed with grant money in Brookfield. Wednesday's event runs from 10 to 2 o'clock at 1011 Pettijohn. The home was constructed with a grant from the Missouri Housing Development Commission.

A Bethany man has died from injuries received in a pickup truck accident two miles south of Bethany. The Highway Patrol identified the victim as 58-year old Sterling W. Lowrey.

A house fire in Cameron yesterday (Friday) afternoon claimed the lives of three people. The Cameron Fire Department discovered the deceased victims upon entering the structure at 113 East Fourth Street just before 5 o'clock.

Authorities in Livingston County are investigating an alleged attempt to escape from the jail in Chillicothe this week. On Sunday night, Sheriff Steve Cox says a male detainee "bolted" out of the cell area and down a hallway as a detention officer was about to lock down other detainees in that cell block. Locked security doors prevented the man from exiting that part of the building.

The Missouri Department of Economic Development has announced approval of Enhanced Enterprise Zone (EEZ) designation for Linn County. A Greencastle man was injured on Friday afternoon when the motorcycle he was driving traveled off an Adair County road, throwing him off. Sixty-five year old Ralph Rose was taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, with injuries described as 'MODERATE' by the Highway Patrol.

Two Spickard residents were flown by medical helicopter to Kansas City following a four-wheeler accident on Saturday night (August 11th) near Spickard. The Highway Patrol says that 47-year old Robert Blozvich Junior and Sue Thrasher (age unavailable) both received SERIOUS injuries, and were flown to St. Luke's Hospital.

Shatto Dairy in Osborn has resumed operations after a plant permit was reinstated. That information came from the Missouri Milk Board, in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Health and Senior Services.

The Newtown-Harris School District began its new academic year on Wednesday with an enrollment of 101 students. That is one MORE than last year on the first day of class.

At this week's Board of Aldermen meeting in Gallatin, Mayor Barb Ballew recommended, and the aldermen approved, the removal of Terri Wright and Mike Butcher from the Gallatin Park Board. Carrie Holcomb was re-appointed to serve on the Park Board for a three-year term.

A Brookfield woman received 'minor' injuries on Wednesday afternoon in an accident six miles southeast of Brookfield. The Highway Patrol said 30-year old Jessica Baker was taken to Pershing Memorial Hospital. She was southbound on Jade Drive when her car ran into the ditch, resulting in extensive damage to the automobile.

Several members of the Class of 1987 remember their years at Trenton High School with a well-loved coach, Coach Richard “Dick” Mellencamp. Mellencamp will be the honoree for next month’s THS 25 Year Class Reunion.

The Stacy Center pool remains closed due to the water conservation going on within the city of Princeton. The gym and fitness center remain open, but with limited hours of operation.

The Trenton R-9 Board of Education has agreed to make a conditional payment to the city for use of portable bleachers, adopted a lower school tax levy, and heard about some changes as a result of Missouri's waiver from the federal law known as
“No Child Left Behind”. The graduation date for Trenton High School's Class of 2013 also was set.
