Anyone in the Trenton area interested in playing on a Trenton little league team in the Harrison County League, headquartered in Bethany, needs to sign up their children THIS WEEK. These teams will practice in Trenton with home games in Trenton. Sign-up sheets are available at area schools and at the Trenton Main Stop convenience store and may be returned to either location. The deadline is FRIDAY, March 15th, 2013.

The North Central Missouri College women's basketball team won a first round Region 16 playoff game yesterday (Saturday) afternoon at the Ketcham Community Center, 100-75 against the Wentworth Red Dragons. The win sends the Lady Pirates into next weekend's Region 16 semifinals in Sedalia, while the Dragons end their season with a record of 5-23. NCMC is 15-14 with a home game on Tuesday night at 5:30 against John Wood to end the regular season.

The Trenton boys played their best offensive half of the season on Tuesday night, scoring 42 points in leading the fourth-seeded Lawson Cardinals 42-40 at the half. Unfortunately for Trenton, the Bulldogs slumped in the third quarter, outscored 21-7, and the "Black and Gold", despite a fourth quarter rally, fell short in a 79-66 final from Bishop LeBlond High School. The North Central Missouri College baseball team is five games deep into their spring break trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and, to this point, the Pirates are finding good success, winning three games and losing two. In all FIVE games, NCMC has out-hit it opponent, and both losses were only by one run, including a 13-inning defeat on Sunday. Head coach Donnie Hillerman says his team is 'playing solid baseball'.

For the Lady Cardinals, that list includes four straight HDC Conference regular season and tournament championships and four straight district titles, but until the last four days, one goal had eluded Mercer, that being a trip to the "Show-Me Showdown". On Friday night, victory #20 came to the Bulldogs in the same fashion, with Stanberry holding down a potent North Mercer offense through four quarters and overtime and escaping Worth County High School with a 50-48 win, sending them to the Class 1 state playoffs on Tuesday night at Bearcat Arena in Maryville.

Out of four wrestlers that Trenton High School brought to the Class 1 state tournament, three remain alive in competition, all in the state quarterfinals, as quarterfinals, semifinals, and wrestlebacks are contested today at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. Trenton's 170 pound senior Jacob Spillman had a first-round bye on Thursday, and automatically advanced into the quarterfinals, and a meeting with Curtis Quick of Sherwood, a junior with a record of 46-6. Spillman enters his first match of this year's state tournament with a season record of 42-1.
