Automobile Accidents : South Harrison bus driver injured in Monday morning accident

A Gilman City resident, 70-year old James Wilson, received what the Highway Patrol called minor injuries in an accident on Monday morning in Bethany. The collision, on U.S. Highway 136, involved a South Harrison School District bus and a tractor-trailer. Wilson was taken by private vehicle to Harrison County Community Hospital in Bethany. |

A Veterans Benefits Fair is planned for this coming Saturday (October 27th) at the Princeton VFW Post. The hours are from 8 o'clock until 12 noon. A district service officer will be there to answer questions from both veterans and their families. |

A Breckenridge man was hurt on Saturday afternoon when the farm tractor he was driving went off a private drive and hit a tree near Breckenridge. The Highway Patrol said 56-year old Wayne Black fell from the tractor. He was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center, with injuries described as MODERATE. |

The Brookfield Lady Dogs softball team, on an offensive roll since the opening of the Class 2 state playoffs, again put an early crooked number on the scoreboard to take a seemingly dominant lead in Saturday's state championship game, only to see Pleasant Hope rally from 6-0 down with four runs in the fifth inning, and five more in the sixth, to upend the Cinderella run of Brookfield, 9-6. |

At its October 19th meeting in Springfield, the Missouri Conservation Commission approved issuing special no-cost “CWD Management Seals” to landowners in the core area where Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) has been detected in Linn and Macon counties. The seals are a special harvest provision that is part of the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) proactive management plan to limit the spread of CWD.

A Brookfield resident was injured on Saturday night when the car he was driving went off a road north of Sumner, hit a culvert, and overturned. Twenty-one year old Nathan Bennett was taken by private vehicle to Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield, with injuries called minor by the Highway Patrol. |

Faculty members at the Social Sciences department of North Central Missouri College are sponsoring a 'Presidential Trivia' contest on Tuesday, November 6th. Organizers say 'Celebrate Election Night' will be a non-partisan event in which participants can match their knowledge of presidential trivia while watching election returns. |
