Residents of St. Joseph and Jamesport were injured yesterday afternoon when a sports utility vehicle overturned on Highway 190, just south of Jamesport.

Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge near Sumner is seeking volunteers to help with its hunting program. They will assist with maintaining hunting blinds, access to hunting areas, signs, and other items related to the hunting program.

Andrew Berry, a 6’4” forward from Columbia-Hickman High School in Columbia, will play basketball at North Central Missouri College in Trenton this fall. He is the son of Linda Tackett of Columbia.

Construction to replace the railroad bridge on Livingston County Route V in Chillicothe will begin in mid-May. The contracted completion date is November 1st. However, the Missouri Department of Transportation says the project could be completed earlier, weather permitting.

The city of Milan has issued a precautionary boil advisory for drinking and cooking water. The boil order is for the ENTIRE CITY of Milan, until Friday afternoon at 1:45. It was attributed to a broken main that feeds the water tower in Milan.

The Highway Patrol reports a Trenton man, Derald Whitney, suffered an apparent medical emergency while driving on early Wednesday evening. His pickup traveled off Highway 65 just north of Trenton. The 71-year old Whitney was pronounced dead a short time later at Wright Memorial Hospital.

Two Bucklin residents were hurt when, according to the Highway Patrol, the sport utility vehicle they were in hit two other vehicles on Interstate 35 south of Cameron.

Identification has been made regarding the body of a white female that was discovered on Friday near the lake at Wallace State Park near Cameron. The Highway Patrol identified the deceased woman as 53-year old Janette Riffle-Hartley of Cameron. Authorities are awaiting autopsy results to help determine the cause of death. The Missouri State Patrol is working with the Clinton County Sheriff's Department on the death investigation.

A motor vehicle was destroyed by fire on Monday night west of Chillicothe on U.S. Highway 36. The incident was near Route C at Utica.

Tyrell Thirkield, son of Denita Elmore of Higginsville, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the Pirates at North Central Missouri College in Trenton next fall. He joins recruit Jory Woodson of the St. Louis area in the guard position.

Trenton and Spickard residents were injured on Thursday morning in a two-car vehicle on a private road southeast of Ravanna.

The Trenton High School Key Club will again be holding a fundraiser in which a 16-ounce commemorative cup of Hershey kisses and best wishes for a successful future are delivered to THS seniors.

Work is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, May 1st on an overlay project on Route C in Worth and Gentry Counties, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.

McKenzie Russell from Kirksville High School signed a letter of intent this week to play basketball with the Lady Pirates at North Central Missouri College in Trenton. She was a two-time All State guard for the Kirksville Tigers.

Three people received what the Highway Patrol called minor injuries in an accident one mile east of Altamont in Daviess County on Wednesday afternoon.

Female graduates of Princeton and North Mercer High Schools may soon begin applying for a Gene Kauffman scholarship for the fall semester of college. The application period starts on Wednesday, May 1st.

Two Chillicothe residents were hurt when a sport utility vehicle traveled off Highway 36 east of Wheeling and hit a grove of trees, after the driver suffered from a medical condition. The Highway Patrol said that driver, 39-year old Laura White of Chillicothe, received MODERATE injuries.

Chillicothe firefighters responded to a house fire on Sunday afternoon on Livingston County Road 2313. It was the residence of Steve Followill.

Jenni Croy, Head Lady Pirates Basketball Coach at North Central Missouri College in Trenton, has signed a shooting guard from Hartville High School for next fall’s team.

The next performance in the season series sponsored by the Chillicothe Area Arts Council features the Bluestem Cowboy Band. The performance begins at 3 o'clock on Sunday (April 28th) in the Gary Dickinson Performing Arts Center in Chillicothe.
