The Livingston County Health Center is again sponsoring its annual "Mitten Tree" to help provide mittens, gloves, hats, and scarves to people who can not afford to purchase them. Donations can be dropped off at the Health Center (800 Adam Drive) during normal business hours of 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
The North Mercer High School basketball teams will have the top seeds, in addition to home court advantage in the 2012 HDC Conference basketball tournament, to be played from Saturday, December 8th to Friday, December 14th in the North Mercer High School gymnasium.

The University of Missouri has announced the official signing of North Mercer High School senior Sierra Michaelis to a national letter of intent. Michaelis, a 5'10” guard, is the 2012 Missouri Wendy's High School Heisman winner, and part of a three person recruiting class for head coach Robin Pingeton.
The PAR Broadcast Group now has the COMPLETE list of honorees in the Tri-Rivers Conference for the 2012 football season. A partial list was supplied, and read on the air yesterday. As expected, the two-time defending Tri-Rivers champion Milan Wildcats are strongly represented on the first-and-second teams, after a 10-1 season that included a 5-0 record in the conference.
At Chillicothe, a garage and a car were destroyed by separate weekend fires. The Department of Emergency Services was called out late Friday night to 122 JFK in Chillicothe due to the report of a structure fire.
Mooresville and Chillicothe men were injured early Monday afternoon in an accident on Highway 36, one mile east of Mooresville. The Highway Patrol said 46-year old David Hightower of Mooresville and 89-year old Roy Cope of Chillicothe were taken by ambulance to Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.
For one half on Saturday afternoon in Hamilton, the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers played toe-to-toe with the top-ranked Penney High School Hornets, only to have the Hornets take the lead on the first drive of the third quarter, and roll to a 35-14 win, putting the Hornets two wins away from a third state football title in the last four seasons.
Stout defense gave the North Central Missouri College women a chance to get a road victory on Wednesday night, but cold shooting doomed the Lady Pirates, who lost 62-52 at Marshalltown Community College in Marshalltown, Iowa, dropping North Central's record to 3-2.

Hunters checked 69,614 deer during the opening weekend of Missouri’s November firearms deer season. The Missouri Department of Conservation says weather was the most significant factor affecting the number of deer checked.
The annual Jenkins Townhouse lighting ceremony in Chillicothe will take place on Friday night (November 16th) at 6 o'clock. Santa Claus and his friends will be on hand as a Chillicothe students turns the lights on for the holiday season at the Jenkins Townhouse, located on Cherry Street, west of the Chillicothe Hy-Vee.
One person is reported dead as the result of a business fire in Cameron. Early Monday afternoon, the Cameron Police Department received a report of a structure fire at A-1 Mobile Truck and Tractor Repair at 1520 Pence Road. A fully engulfed machine type shed was located on the property.
Maintenance crews will be working this week in the WESTBOUND lanes of U.S. Highway 36 from Bob Griffin Road to U.S. Highway 69 in Cameron. The work will include closing the cross-over west of the Interstate 35 overpass.
