Flames and Fires : Items sought for victims of Chillicothe house fire

Donated items are being sought for a Chillicothe family who lost belongings in a fire at their residence on Monday night. The Chillicothe Fire Department says about 100 gallons of water and foam were used to extinguish smoldering embers in the attic and ceiling joists in the kitchen area at 104 East Second Street in Chillicothe. |

A non-injury traffic accident on southbound Interstate 35 near the Winston exit resulted in southbound lanes of the interstate being closed for nearly five hours on Saturday morning. The accident involved a tractor-trailer unit and a van. The tractor-trailer unit was carrying batteries. |

The Livingston County Sheriff's Department has been approved for a $9,000 local law enforcement block grant. That is according to Sheriff Steve Cox, who says the money will be used toward the purchase of a new or used patrol vehicle. The grant application was written by Sergeant Michael Claypole with assistance from Presiding Commissioner Eva Danner-Horton and Sheriff Cox. |

A Stewartsville man was taken to a St. Joseph hospital hours after an accident in rural Clinton County on Saturday night. The Highway Patrol says the accident (at 9:50 PM Saturday) occurred three miles southwest of Stewartsville on Keller Road. |

The Highway Patrol says two Stewartsville residents were SERIOUSLY injured when a car overturned off Highway 36 west of Cameron early on Saturday night. The driver, 24-year old Kacy Teeter, and a passenger, 26-year old Jacob Bennett, both of Stewartsville, were taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. |

The Trenton High School wrestling team, on Thursday night, beat Southwest Livingston and Albany for its first triangular 'victory' of the 2012-2013 season. The Bulldogs scored 66 points in their win over the Ludlow team, and beat the host Warriors 40-32. |

The Green Hills Animal Shelter will be offering $20.00 off the usual adoption fees during a promotion the afternoon of Saturday, December 15th. This is called the "Jingle Bell Special Pet Adoption Day". Dogs and cats wearing jingle bells will be available that afternoon at a $20.00 discount. The shelter says the regular adoption fee ranges from $80 to $100. That includes the cost of rabies and distemper vaccinations, plus the spaying or neutering of the pet. |

Automobile Accidents : Highway 6 accident injures St. Joseph men

Two men from St. Joseph were injured late Wednesday afternoon in a traffic accident three miles west of Gallatin. The Highway Patrol said that the men, 27-year old Teklit Weldeabzgi and 30-year old Tedla Tesfameskel, suffered SERIOUS injuries and were flown by medical helicopter to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City. |
