Four games into the Region 16 portion of their 2012-2013 schedule, the North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates were winless, with home defeats against St. Louis, Penn Valley, and Cottey, and a road loss at Penn Valley. That run of frustration ended for NCMC on Wednesday night, with the Lady Pirates taking a 76-64 win against visiting Wentworth Military Academy. |

The North Arkansas Pioneers survived a second half surge from North Central Missouri College and beat the Pirates on Saturday afternoon, 93-90 in overtime, to improve to 17-3 on the season. The victory is the second for North Arkansas against NCMC in 2013, with both games going extra time. |

The North Central Missouri College women, in action broadcast Wednesday night on Hot Country Z 101.7, struggled in the second half of a Region 16 contest with Cottey College, falling by a final score of 71-48, dropping NCMC to 9-13 on the season, and 0-4 in Region 16 play. |

Out of four wrestlers that Trenton High School brought to the Class 1 state tournament, three remain alive in competition, all in the state quarterfinals, as quarterfinals, semifinals, and wrestlebacks are contested today at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. Trenton's 170 pound senior Jacob Spillman had a first-round bye on Thursday, and automatically advanced into the quarterfinals, and a meeting with Curtis Quick of Sherwood, a junior with a record of 46-6. Spillman enters his first match of this year's state tournament with a season record of 42-1. |

The North Central Missouri College basketball teams have gone unbeaten through a combined three games played at the Ketcham Community Center this week, with the Pirate men beating JV squads from Central College (Pella, Iowa) and Culver-Stockton College, while the Lady Pirates defeated Marshalltown Community College on Monday night. |

The Trenton boys, for the second time this season, have a victory against the Putnam County Midgets, going to overtime on Friday night before pulling out a 63-55 victory in Unionville, improving the Bulldogs record to 14-9 on the season, and clinching the first winning season at THS for boy's basketball coach Jeremy Austin. |

The Princeton Lady Tigers are playing some of the best basketball of any team in the region, winning their fifth game in a row on Tuesday night, 61-31 over the visiting Albany Lady Warriors, in Grand River Conference action from Princeton broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com. The win improves Princeton's record to 12-10 on the season. |

The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates, smarting after a mid-week loss to Cottey College at the Ketcham Community Center, were able to find some positive momentum on Sunday afternoon, traveling to Fayette and defeating the Central Methodist University JV squad by a final score of 93-59. |

The Princeton girls and boys, in Friday night hoops action broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and 'Internet TV', split a pair of varsity games at Worth County High School. The Princeton girls won the opener, 57-49, with the Worth County boys rallying in the fourth quarter to take the nightcap, 65-57. |

Never was that mindset more on display than on Saturday afternoon at the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton, where the St. Joseph Lafayette girls took out the state-ranked Trenton Lady Bulldogs, 36-21. |

The Trenton girl's and boy's varsity basketball teams both fell behind by double digits early in their games on Tuesday night at Lawson, and despite a number of spirited rallies, particularly from the Lady Bulldogs, THS went down to defeat to the host Cardinals, 51-39 in the girls contest and 50-26 in the boy's game, in contests broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com. |
