News : NCMC Foundation announces 2012 Class of "Distinguished" Alumni

The North Central Missouri College Foundation has announced its newest class of distinguished alumni. Cathy Bailey and Steve Maxy, both of Trenton; Patricia Mertens of Ironton; and Dennis Walker from Fulton are to be inducted at the foundation's ninth annual Gala on Saturday, October 13th at the Ketcham Community Center.

Sports : Cainsville spoils home opener for Grundy R-5

The Cainsville Lady Red beat the Lady Panthers of Grundy County High School on Monday night by a score of 7-2. The Grundy R-5 boys were locked in a competitive game with the Jefferson Eagles when electrical difficulties at the Galt Ball Field led to the suspension of the game in the third inning, with the visitors from Conception Junction leading 3-2.

Dove hunters will need to be extra conscientious about safety this year, according to the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC). The reasons include weather and the timing of opening day. MDC Hunter Education Coordinator Tony Legg is urging hunters to review hunting safety measures that are especially important when hunting on specially managed dove fields.

Accidents : Weekend accidents injure Trenton and Richmond residents

A Trenton man, operating a motorcycle, was injured early Sunday evening when he was thrown off the machine while traveling in Spickard. Other weekend accidents included a two vehicle injury accident on Saturday in Trenton and a single vehicle wreck on Saturday evening east of Princeton.

News : New security door in place at the Livingston County jail

A new sally-port security door has been installed at the Livingston County Jail in Chillicothe. The previous door was broken on the night of July 4th in the escape of two inmates. Inspection indicated the old door was not repairable and, according to Sheriff Steve Cox, would not consistently "lock down".

News : U.S. 36 roadwork east of St. Joseph means smoother surface

Traffic on U.S. Highway 36 is no longer going head-to-head in Buchanan and DeKalb Counties, as of mid-afternoon Thursday. The Missouri Department of Transportation reports that this project is near completion. Westbound motorists will now experience a smoother five-mile section of Highway 36 in these two counties.

News : More school districts began classes on Wednesday

Opening day of school enrollments continue to be reported today (Wednesday) by several districts. Princeton reports 384 students, a drop by four when compared to 2011 Opening Day. Class size at Princeton ranges from 20 in third grade up to 41 in the sophomore class. There are 20 students in Princeton pre-school.
