Accidents : Ludlow woman injured in truck accident

A Ludlow resident was hurt early Thursday morning when the pickup truck she was driving traveled off a Livingston County road and hit a utility pole. Fifty-six year old Norma Wood of Ludlow was taken by private vehicle to Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe, with injuries described as MODERATE by the Highway Patrol.

News : Dawn resident returned to Chillicothe to face criminal charges

A 36-year old Dawn resident, David Hughes, was returned from Jackson County to Chillicothe last week (Wednesday) to face charges associated with gunshots being fired on Wednesday, September 5th in Dawn. Hughes is being held in the Livingston County Jail in lieu of $300,000 cash only bond.

A Trenton woman was hurt when, according to the Highway Patrol, she attempted a left turn, and her car was hit by a sport utility vehicle attempting to pass. Thirty-one year old Emily Voorhies of Trenton was taken to Wright Memorial Hospital, with injuries described as minor.

A Hamilton man, 51 year old Robert Hobbs, was sentenced on Tuesday to life in prison in connection with the death of his father more than 2 1/2 years ago. The sentence was announced by Judge Thomas Chapman in Livingston County Circuit Court in Chillicothe.

Sports : Trenton and Milan add softball game, against EACH OTHER Thursday night

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs and Milan Lady Wildcats have found a solution to their softball scheduling issues. Both schools, after searching for one game to add to their schedules, have agreed to play EACH OTHER this Thursday night (September 13th) in Milan. The varsity game is at 5 o'clock with a JV game to follow. Trenton lost a varsity game against Princeton last month, and has been searching for a replacement game. This addition WILL NOT effect Trenton's remaining schedule for 2012.

Princeton and Trenton will be sites of "child car seat" safety checks this week. Checks will be done at the Mercer County Health Department in Princeton on Wednesday (by appointment). Child car-seat safety checks will be done in the parking lot of the ShopKo store in Trenton on the morning of Saturday, September 22nd between 9 and 11 o'clock. People wishing to have a safety check should show up during those times in Trenton.

News : Self-Defense classes for females to be held in Livingston County

The Livingston County Sheriff's Department, in conjunction with a non-profit organization that teaches self-defense to girls and women, will be offering a self-defense course on Friday and Saturday, October 19th and 20th. It is for girls ages 12 and older and women of all ages, with the cost set at $25.00, and instruction to be from 6 PM to 9 PM on the 19th, and 8 to 5 o'clock on the 20th.

In conjunction with Major League Baseball, the Kansas City Royals today announced their 2013 regular season schedule on Wednesday morning. Opening Day is scheduled for Monday, April 1st when the Royals visit the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field. Kansas City will begin the home schedule on April 8 vs. Minnesota. All game times will be announced at a later date.

The Farm Bureau said telephone conference calls held September 5th through the 11th included trustees representing 104 of Missouri's counties, finishing with votes to support Congressman Akin, with results similar to the original endorsement on August 10th.

In a game at Princeton that involved 17 errors between the two teams, it was a five error inning by the host Lady Tigers in the top of the seventh that proved costly, with Milan winning on the road by a score of 5-3.
