The 2012 Trenton Bulldog football season has important dates coming on the horizon, with the opening of fall camp on Monday morning, August 6th, a jamboree at Maysville High School on Friday, August 17th, and the regular season-opener at Carrollton High School on Friday, August 24th.

The Trenton High School girl's golf team will begin practice on Monday morning, August 6th from 8 to 10 o'clock at Riverside Country Club in Trenton. The Lady Bulldogs are the defending district champions, a goal reached two of the past three seasons. Coach Jeremy Austin says with a good group of girls returning, Trenton expects more success in 2012.

The long-awaited college choice for North Mercer girl's basketball standout Sierra Michaelis could be coming, perhaps sooner than later. The St. Joseph News-Press had a conversation with Michaelis within the past few days in which the Lady Cardinal senior-to-be indicated that she would like to give a verbal commitment to a school "by the end of July".

The University of Missouri and Texas A&M University will join the Southeastern Conference, officially, when the calendar flips to July on Sunday morning. The addition of the two former Big 12 schools will increase the SEC to 14 teams.

Families and Friends of the Developmentally Disabled will provide transportation and supervision for area residents to attend a Royals/Cardinals game at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City on Sunday, June 24th. Game time is 1:10 that afternoon. The mini-buses will leave Friendship Place Apartments in Trenton at 9:00 that morning.

The Stacy Center in Princeton will hold its annual triathlon on Saturday, June 30th. There are two age divisions ----- Under 15 and 15 and Older. The distances for youths under 15 are a 100 yard swim, a two mile bike ride, and a one mile run. The distances for adults are a 500 yard swim, a six mile bike ride, and a two mile run.

Eighty-one standout athletes have converged on North Central Missouri College in Trenton for the 2012 Lions All-Star Basketball Classic tonight and tomorrow (June 1st and 2nd). Four girls teams and four boys teams representing Lions Clubs from across northern Missouri will meet for a day of practice, tonight's awards banquet, and a total of eight games where an eventual champion will be crowned.

A Lock Springs woman, known for her A-T-V racing skills, was injured Friday afternoon while competing in a qualifying race in South Dakota. Twenty-two year old Bailey Shea Williams was taken to a hospital in Sioux Falls with injuries that a family member described as broken ribs, a punctured lung, and a left shoulder injury.

There were 144 participants in the Gooseberry Festival's Five and Ten Kilometer run and walk on Saturday morning in Trenton. Roberto Garcia of Trenton was the overall winner in the 10K run with a time of 37:51. He competed in the men's ages 20 to 25 division.
