The North Arkansas Pioneers survived a second half surge from North Central Missouri College and beat the Pirates on Saturday afternoon, 93-90 in overtime, to improve to 17-3 on the season. The victory is the second for North Arkansas against NCMC in 2013, with both games going extra time. |

Two Mooresville girls were hurt when a sport utility vehicle overturned off a road north of Ludlow on Thursday afternoon. The driver, 16-year old Brittany Twyman, and a passenger, 14-year old Shauna Hughes, were taken by private vehicle to Liberty Urgent Care in Liberty. The Highway Patrol said each person had MODERATE injuries. |

The North Central Missouri College women, in action broadcast Wednesday night on Hot Country Z 101.7, struggled in the second half of a Region 16 contest with Cottey College, falling by a final score of 71-48, dropping NCMC to 9-13 on the season, and 0-4 in Region 16 play. |

A southwest Missouri man received what the Highway Patrol called minor injuries when the tractor-trailer unit he was driving slid into the median of Interstate 35 north of Bethany. Sixty-six year old Eddie Phillips of Wheatland was to seek treatment on his own. |

A Maysville woman, 24-year old Brittany Bracken, sustained what the Highway Patrol called minor injuries in an accident on Tuesday afternoon three miles east of Fairport. Ms. Bracken was taken by ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center. |

The Trenton girl's and boy's varsity basketball teams both fell behind by double digits early in their games on Tuesday night at Lawson, and despite a number of spirited rallies, particularly from the Lady Bulldogs, THS went down to defeat to the host Cardinals, 51-39 in the girls contest and 50-26 in the boy's game, in contests broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com. |

Road Work Ahead : Stanley Lake Bridge exams to close Highway 139 near Sumner

The Missouri Department of Transportation says travelers using Highway 139 in the Sumner area will need to find an alternate route during daytime hours beginning Monday. That is because MoDOT will be doing subsurface examinations of the Stanley Lake Bridge. Crews will be drilling from the top of the bridge to collect date to plan for a future structure. |

A Unionville resident was hurt on Wednesday afternoon when the sport utility vehicle she was driving went out of control on Highway 5 north of Unionville and hit a mailbox and a utility box. Eighteen-year old Marissa Shuey suffered 'minor' injuries, and was treated at Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville. |

The Small Business Administration says low interest federal disaster loans are available in Carroll and surrounding counties. That is because of reduced revenues caused by drought on November 15th of last year through January 21st of this year. |
