KTTN/KGOZ Sports : Trenton Blue Jays baseball season underway

The Trenton American Legion Blue Jays played their home opener on Tuesday night, suffering a pair of shutout losses against Kirksville. The Blue Jays are a Junior Division American Legion team coached by Steve Hudson of rural Trenton:

Automobile Accidents : Mid-week accident kills Novinger man

A northeast Missouri man died on Tuesday night after being thrown out of his pickup truck in rural Adair County. The Highway Patrol said 56 year old Kenneth Cunningham of Novinger was not wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred on Highway 11 just past 5:30 PM.

A summer food drive has been announced in Mercer County to fill "bare emergency food shelves". The Mercer County Food Pantry says that "Festive" boxes will be available at local merchants. Those making contributions also can do so through their church or drop off items between 9:00 and 12 noon at the Princeton United Methodist Church.

Automobile Accidents : Eagleville teenager killed in weekend accident

An Eagleville girl was killed when the car she was driving traveled off Highway 69 north of Eagleville, hit an embankment, and overturned several times, throwing her from the vehicle. Sixteen year old Brittni Brenizer of Eagleville was pronounced dead at Harrison County Community Hospital in Bethany on Saturday night, about 90 minutes after the accident.

Flames and Fires : During demolition work, Chillicothe's Leeper Hotel catches fire

The old Leeper Hotel building in Chillicothe, which has been undergoing demolition in recent weeks, caught fire on Saturday evening while that demolition was continuing. The fire was contained to that structure, although there was smoke damage to a nearly chiropractor's office. No injuries were reported.

Automobile Accidents : King City woman injured in Gentry County accident

A Gentry County accident on Sunday night injured a King City resident. The Highway Patrol said 21 year old Donna Overton of King City received MODERATE injuries and was taken by ambulance to Northwest Medical center of Albany.

The Stacy Center in Princeton will hold its annual triathlon on Saturday, June 30th. There are two age divisions ----- Under 15 and 15 and Older. The distances for youths under 15 are a 100 yard swim, a two mile bike ride, and a one mile run. The distances for adults are a 500 yard swim, a six mile bike ride, and a two mile run.

The Highway Patrol reports a Cameron man died early Monday morning when he was thrown out of his overturning vehicle in rural Livingston County. The victim, identified as 68 year old Chris Vanderau, was pronounced dead at the scene some two and a half hours after the accident is believed to have occurred.
