The Penney High School Hornets scored four touchdowns in less than six minutes of fourth quarter action, blowing open a tight game in St. Louis, as Hamilton won the Class 1 state championship game on Friday afternoon over the Valle Catholic Warriors by a score of 60-34. Hamilton's win gives the school its third state title in four years, with the Hornets having won the Class 1 state title in 2009, and the Class 2 crown in 2010. |

Silas Bohannan, a North Central Missouri College sophomore from Neosho, Missouri has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at the University of Missouri next fall. Bohannan (or, as he is known on the baseball field, “Sibo”) will play at Mizzou for his junior and senior years of athletic eligibility. |

Stout defense gave the North Central Missouri College women a chance to get a road victory on Wednesday night, but cold shooting doomed the Lady Pirates, who lost 62-52 at Marshalltown Community College in Marshalltown, Iowa, dropping North Central's record to 3-2. |

The University of Missouri has announced the official signing of North Mercer High School senior Sierra Michaelis to a national letter of intent. Michaelis, a 5'10” guard, is the 2012 Missouri Wendy's High School Heisman winner, and part of a three person recruiting class for head coach Robin Pingeton.

For one half on Saturday afternoon in Hamilton, the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers played toe-to-toe with the top-ranked Penney High School Hornets, only to have the Hornets take the lead on the first drive of the third quarter, and roll to a 35-14 win, putting the Hornets two wins away from a third state football title in the last four seasons. |

Basketball teams from Iowa and Missouri will face each other in the first annual Putnam County "Border War" tournament on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday nights of this week. Iowa schools participating are Albia, Centerville, Davis County, and Eddysville-Blakesburg. They will meet Missouri teams from Clark, Schuyler, and Putnam Counties over the three day event. Each of the Iowa squads will play one game during the week, while the Missouri teams will each play three games. |

The PAR Broadcast Group now has the COMPLETE list of honorees in the Tri-Rivers Conference for the 2012 football season. A partial list was supplied, and read on the air yesterday. As expected, the two-time defending Tri-Rivers champion Milan Wildcats are strongly represented on the first-and-second teams, after a 10-1 season that included a 5-0 record in the conference. |

The North Central Missouri College women's and men's basketball teams continued their strong starts to the 2012-2013 season, both claiming victories on Friday night at the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton, with the Lady Pirates drilling Graceland University's JV 100-51, while the Pirate men beat the Culver-Stockton JV 86-76. |
