Flames and Fires : During demolition work, Chillicothe's Leeper Hotel catches fire

The old Leeper Hotel building in Chillicothe, which has been undergoing demolition in recent weeks, caught fire on Saturday evening while that demolition was continuing. The fire was contained to that structure, although there was smoke damage to a nearly chiropractor's office. No injuries were reported.

Automobile Accidents : King City woman injured in Gentry County accident

A Gentry County accident on Sunday night injured a King City resident. The Highway Patrol said 21 year old Donna Overton of King City received MODERATE injuries and was taken by ambulance to Northwest Medical center of Albany.

Automobile Accidents : Livingston County accident injures Dawn man, charged with DWI

A resident of Dawn was hurt when the van he was driving traveled off a Livingston County road, hit a tree, and overturned. Forty-three year old Justin Mitchell was taken to Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe, with injuries described as minor by the Highway Patrol.

Automobile Accidents : Clinton County accident injures five

Five people were injured, three of them seriously, when two vehicles collided at an intersection five miles south of Gower in rural Clinton County. It happened at the junction of Highway 116 and County Line Road.

Eighty-one standout athletes have converged on North Central Missouri College in Trenton for the 2012 Lions All-Star Basketball Classic tonight and tomorrow (June 1st and 2nd). Four girls teams and four boys teams representing Lions Clubs from across northern Missouri will meet for a day of practice, tonight's awards banquet, and a total of eight games where an eventual champion will be crowned.

The Elizabeth and Arthur Barton Farm Campus at Trenton has received a monetary gift, in the first disbursement from the estate of the late Doctor James and Joanna Whitley of Columbia. That first disbursement is nearly $458,000 to support the construction of the farm campus.
