The University of Missouri has announced additional details concerning the athletic department’s visit later this month to Mendon.

A Gallatin resident was hurt early Sunday morning when the car he was driving traveled off Highway 13 and overturned south of Gallatin.

Three persons received what the Highway Patrol called minor injuries in separate accidents Monday on Highway 136 in Mercer and Harrison Counties.

Mercer County Sheriff Steve Stockman says the inmate who forced his way past a jailer and escaped from jail late Sunday afternoon is suspected of stealing a car that eventually wrecked in southern Iowa. The inmate is 22 year old Tyler Hinshaw of Mercer. Stockman said Hinshaw had been held in the Mercer County Jail for the past six months.

Putnam County, Green City, and Milan FFA chapters are among those from this area to qualify the most judging teams for state following district-level competitions this week for northeast Missouri schools. Putnam County of Unionville will send six judging teams to the state FFA convention this month; Green City qualified four teams; and Milan will send three teams. Teams from Green City and Meadville captured first place at the northeast Missouri career development events.

A Platte County judge has agreed with a defense motion to NOT allow ballistics evidence and certain testimony in the event the state conducts a third murder trial for 38-year old Mark Woodworth of Chillicothe. Woodworth has twice been convicted of murder, armed criminal action, assault, and burglary in events stemming from the early 1990's.

A Gallatin man is in jail after six felony count were filed against him stemming from an investigation by the Daviess County Sheriff's Department. Twenty-four year old Bryan Scott Carter was arrested on Saturday, regarding the alleged forcible rape of his four-month old child.

An Independence man was injured on Sunday night when the Highway Patrol said a car struck a deer on southbound Interstate 35 in Cameron.

Various activities are planned next week when Rissler Elementary School in Trenton holds a library book fair. Proceeds will be used to fund reading and book-related activities for the students.

Results have been released following the second day of career development judging events on the district level for F-F-A students in northwest Missouri schools. We have also compiled a list of local/area teams that advance to further competition at the Missouri FFA convention later this month in Columbia.

A Princeton man, 55-year old David Ramer, sustained what the Highway Patrol called minor injuries on Monday morning, on I-35 south of Bethany.

Murder charges were filed on Monday against two suspects that were arrested following a crime spree that began on Sunday night in Moberly and ended Monday morning in Macon. The Randolph County prosecuting attorney charged Jeffery Nichols and Christopher Lewis with first degree murder, with bond set at $1,000,000 each.

Southwest Livingston County R-1 of Ludlow and Cowgill R-6 Elementary are among winners in the 2013 “Yes You CAN Make Missouri Litter Free” . It was a trash can-decorating contest. 18 Missouri elementary and middle schools and almost 200 students participated in the annual contest sponsored by the Missouri Departments of Conservation and Transportation.

A Jameson man was injured and then arrested due to an A-T-V accident last night on Kodiak Avenue just south of Jameson in Daviess County. One person was injured yesterday afternoon in an accident about three miles
south of Avalon in southern Livingston County.
