The Trenton girl's and boy's varsity basketball teams both fell behind by double digits early in their games on Tuesday night at Lawson, and despite a number of spirited rallies, particularly from the Lady Bulldogs, THS went down to defeat to the host Cardinals, 51-39 in the girls contest and 50-26 in the boy's game, in contests broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com.

In the first of at least TWO matchups between #2 ranked Trenton and #9 ranked Hamilton, the outstanding play of senior guard Elsie Greenwood proved too much for the Lady Bulldogs on Saturday night, with the Missouri S&T bound Penney product sizzling the nets for 35 points, with Hamilton earning their own tournament title with a 51-45 win.

Sports : Norfleet's basket gives NCMC Pirates 64-61 win over St. Louis

The North Central Missouri College Pirates were able to play their style of basketball, namely a grinding, tough defensive effort combined with timely offense, and in the process picked up their biggest win of the basketball season on Saturday, 64-61 over the visiting St. Louis Archers. Redshirt sophomore Marshon Norfleet scored 20 points in the victory, including the game-winning basket and free throw with 2.5 seconds remaining in the second half. The Trenton basketball games with Milan on Thursday, January 31st in Trenton will now be a TRIPLE-header, with a JV girls game at 5 o'clock, followed by a varsity girls, and varsity boys game. The JV girls, JV boys against Milan on Thursday, February 7th have been cancelled!

The Chillicothe Hornet wrestlers won five matches to Trenton's four in 'on-the-mat' competition on Tuesday night at Trenton High School. However, Chililcothe won four other weight classes by forfeit while giving up just one forfeit to the Bulldogs. The end result was Chillicothe winning the dual, 48-24.

Athletes were divided into pools, with first place finishers from one pool meeting and first place finisher from the other pool. Second place finishers from each pool met, and so on, depending on pool placement.

In a women's basketball game that saw North Central Missouri College trail for the first 39 minutes plus of regulation, the Lady Pirates got a game-winning jump shot from freshman Samone Redditt with 45.6 seconds remaining and were able to hold on for a 65-63 victory against the visiting Moberly Greyhounds.
