Sports : FFDD announces trip to Royals-Cardinals game on June 24th

Families and Friends of the Developmentally Disabled will provide transportation and supervision for area residents to attend a Royals/Cardinals game at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City on Sunday, June 24th. Game time is 1:10 that afternoon. The mini-buses will leave Friendship Place Apartments in Trenton at 9:00 that morning.

Sports : Stacy Center "Triathlon" scheduled for June 30th

The Stacy Center in Princeton will hold its annual triathlon on Saturday, June 30th. There are two age divisions ----- Under 15 and 15 and Older. The distances for youths under 15 are a 100 yard swim, a two mile bike ride, and a one mile run. The distances for adults are a 500 yard swim, a six mile bike ride, and a two mile run.

Eighty-one standout athletes have converged on North Central Missouri College in Trenton for the 2012 Lions All-Star Basketball Classic tonight and tomorrow (June 1st and 2nd). Four girls teams and four boys teams representing Lions Clubs from across northern Missouri will meet for a day of practice, tonight's awards banquet, and a total of eight games where an eventual champion will be crowned.

The featured speaker for next week’s awards banquet of the Lions All-Stars Basketball Classic is no stranger to the basketball court or to the Lions organization. Cori Elms graduated from Cameron High School in 1993 and that same year, she was selected to play in the Lions All-Star Basketball Classic. She not only played in that game, but her two free throws were the deciding factor in her team’s victory.

The North Central Missouri College Foundation has announced the establishment of athletic scholarships in memory of Mark and Rebekah Whiteaker, former Trenton residents. The $10,000 contribution will allow for four $500 scholarships each year, beginning with the 2012-2013 academic year.

Sports : Southwest Livingston girls, Concordia boys win sectional track titles

The Lady Wildcats of Southwest High School earned 81 points on Saturday afternoon to claim the team championship at the Class 1, Section 3 event held at Marshall High School. The Concordia Orioles won the boy's event with 124 points, 27 more than the 97 put up by the runner-up Princeton Tigers. The American Legion Post 25 Cardinals, on Wednesday night, beat Millhouse by a score of 4-1. Post 25 scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead. Millhouse scored in the top of the seventh for their only run in the game.

For the first time in program history, the Trenton Bulldogs have won girl's and boy's district track titles in the same year, pulling off the feat on Saturday at Eagle Stadium in St. Joseph. The Trenton girls had 116 1/2 points, with Lathrop in second place at 91 1/2, while the Trenton boys had 108 points, with runner-up Lathrop at 94. Top FOUR finishers in each event advanced to this Saturday's Class 2, Section 4 meet at St. Joseph Christian High School.
