The Lady Cardinals, on Wednesday, beat Grundy R-5 by a score of 9-4 in the quarterfinals. On Saturday afternoon, Pattonsburg beat Mercer by a score of 11-3 in the semifinals, but the young Lady Cards showed resiliency in coming off the mat for an 8-0 shutout win over Winston in the third place game. This week, the Lady Cardinals host Winston on Monday night at 5:30, travel to Gilman City for a 5:30 game on Tuesday night, and host Grundy R-5 at 5:30 on Thursday night.

The Mercer boys, on the strength of a three-run rally, beat Newtown-Harris in Wednesday night's quarterfinals, 9-8. In an equally exciting game in Saturday's semifinals, the Cardinals came out on the short end of a 13-12 final against top-seeded North Harrison (Mercer's second one-run loss to the Shamrocks this season). In the third place game, the Cardinals struggled in a 15-5 loss to Grundy R-5.

The Mercer boys will host Winston tonight (Monday night) at approximately 7 o'clock, before traveling to Gilman City on Tuesday night to play JEFFERSON (Gilman City does not have a boy's team), return to Mercer to HOST Grundy R-5 on Thursday night, and play in the Jefferson Tournament on Saturday.
