Sports : Grundy R-5 Softball Coaches Shows for 9/16/13

Airing between the 3:30 and 4:00 hour on Monday afternoon on KTTN FM 92.3, here are the Grundy R-5 softball shows, recorded on Monday, September 16th, 2013:

The Lady Panthers finished SIXTH in the HDC Conference Tournament in Bethany on Saturday, falling in Wednesday night's quarterfinal to North Mercer 9-4, but rebounding on Saturday morning with an 8-4 win over Newtown-Harris in the consolation semifinal. Grundy R-5 lost a tough battle to East Harrison in the fifth place game, 6-5. Grundy R-5, back in regular season HDC action this week, plays AT Jamesport Tri-County on Tuesday night, and North Mercer on Thursday night.

The Grundy R-5 boys are in a rut when it comes to trying to beat conference rival Winston. For the second time in a week, the Panthers had a seventh-inning lead dissipate in losing to the Redbirds in the conference semifinals, 13-12. Grundy R-5 did rebound nicely to win the third place game over North Mercer, 15-5. The Panthers walloped Tri-County by a score of 20-1 in the quarterfinals. Just like the girls, the Panther boys play at Tri-County on Tuesday and North Mercer on Thursday in this week's action.
