Sports : THS Tennis Slays Cameron Dragons, 7-2

The Trenton High School Lady Bulldog tennis team, fresh off finishing second at Wednesday's Chillicothe Quad, beat Cameron 7 matches to 2 in head-to-head action on Thursday afternoon at Cameron High School.

In singles play, Trenton winners were (#1) Megan Derry over Kelly Waller 8-1, (#3) Alvynne Villacampa over Gena Sloan 8-3, (#4) Siara Bailey over Morgan Choate 8-6, (#5) Hannah Sowder over Taylor Richardson 8-1, and (#6) Hannah Brinser over Kelly Baker 8-1. At #2 singles, Cameron's Legend James downed Trenton's Alexis Fender 8-5.

In doubles play, the Trenton team of Derry/Fender, after winning the Chillicothe Quad on Wednesday, blitzed Waller and Sloan on Thursday by a score of 8-2, with the #3 team of Sowder and Brinser beating Richardson and Baker 8-1. At #2 doubles, Cameron's team of James and Choate beat Villacampa and Bailey 8-4.

There was only one JV match played between the teams, with Trenton's Ashley Allen beating Cameron's Nita Ruuskanen 6-2.

The Trenton tennis ladies are participating in the St. Joseph Benton Tournament today. Action started at 9 o'clock this (Friday) morning.
