Sports : THS Volleyball Loses Home Opener to Lexington

The Trenton volleyball team had a golden opportunity for a lead in Monday night's match against the Lexington Minutemen, but lost the opening set 25-23.

Trenton lost the second set to the visitors 25-18, losing the match and falling to 0-3 on the season. Lakisha Hughs led the Bulldogs offense with three aces, while Sarah Walker, Bekah Wiggins, and Hughs all had four kills. Hughs contributed a block, with Malinda Foster and Alex Ewald both picking up six assists, and Ewald adding 14 digs.

The news was more positive for the Trenton JV, who found the win column for the first time this year, 25-17, 11-25, 25-23 over Lexington. Lyric Nolan had ten aces for the Lady Bulldog JV, who received four kills from Jasmyn French, six assists from Nikki Hagan, and five kills from Morganne Farmer.

Last Thursday (September 5th), Trenton lost to Chillicothe, at CHS, by scores o 25-9, 25-11. The JV lost to Chillicothe, 25-12, 25-17.

For the Lady Bulldog varsity, against Chillicothe, Haley Mathews had two aces, Lakisha Hughs three kills, and Alex Ewald 12 digs and four assists.

Trenton's JV and varsity volleyball teams hit the road tonight (Tuesday night) for matches at Plattsburg High School against the Tigers, starting at 5 o'clock.
