Sports : North Harrison Shamrocks Awarded Both #1 Seeds at HDC Softball Tournament

The North Harrison Shamrocks are the #1 seeds for the annual HDC Conference Softball Tournament, starting Wednesday night in Bethany.

The tournament starts at 4:30 on Wednesday afternoon from Memorial Park, with the 8 vs 9 girls game, as Gilman City battles Tri-County. The winner plays North Harrison in the quarterfinals at 6:00, also at Memorial Park.

A 4:30 girls quarterfinal between #2 seed Pattonsburg and Newtown-Harris will be played at Linch Field. The other two girls quarterfinal go at 6:00, with #4 seed East Harrison against Winston at Babe Adams Field, and #3 seed Mercer against Grundy R-5 at Linch Field.

The North Harrison boys, seeded #1, have a quarterfinal bye in the seven-team boys tournament. On Wednesday night, #4 seed Mercer battles Newtown-Harris in a 7:30 quarterfinal at Linch Field. Two other boys quarterfinals, also at 7:30, will match up #2 seed Grundy R-5 at Tri-County at Memorial Park, and #3 seed Winston and East Harrison at Babe Adams Field.

Quarterfinals: #1 North Harrison vs. Tri-County/Gilman City winner at 6:00 PM Wednesday (Memorial Park)
#4 East Harrison vs. #5 Winston at 6:00 PM Wednesday (Babe Adams Field)
#2 Pattonsburg vs. #7 Newtown-Harris at 4:30 PM Wednesday (Linch Field)
#3 Mercer vs. #6 Grundy County at 6:00 PM Wednesday (Linch Field)

Consolation Semifinals: North Harrison, GC, or T-C vs. E. Harrison OR Winston at 10:30 AM Saturday (Memorial Park)
