It will be a 150 mile motorcycle ride from K-C-I airport to Milan as the patriot guard riders accompany the body of U-S Army Private Jonathan Hostetter – age 20 and formerly from Milan.

The organizations' web site reports a schedule. They are to leave K-C-I about 11 am, then to St. Joseph; taking a fuel stop or break at Cameron at approximately 12:15 (specifically the Shell station at the southeast corner of I-35 and U-S 36.) Organizers say Patriot Guard members from north central Missouri may join the ride at Cameron. The escort is then expected to follow Highway 36 east, getting to Chillicothe at about 1 o'clock today; continuing east to Highway 5, then north to Milan.

It's anticipated that American flags will be displayed along the route. Chillicothe Boy Scouts and veterans groups reportedly are to be at the Chillicothe airport when the escort goes by.

The family of Private Hostetter requested the presence of the Patriot Guard riders at the services. Visitation is Wednesday night at Milan Christian Church on Infirmary Road ( 6 to 8 pm). The service is Thursday afternoon (1:30) at the church. The patriot guard is to provide an escort to the White Oak Cemetery for interment with full military honors.

Ruschmeier Funeral Home reports “Larry the Flag man” Eckart plans to place 22 hundred flags in honor of Private Hostetter. Eckart travels the United States placed flags for funerals for our fallen soldiers. Many volunteers will be needed for this task. So if you can spare some time and volunteer, meet tomorrow (Wednesday) evening at 5 o’clock in the parking lot of Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan.

The Patriot Guard Riders is considered a diverse amalgamation of all-volunteer riders from across the nation with one thing in common besides motorcycles. That's described as an unwavering respect for those who risk their lives for America’s freedom and security including Fallen Military Heroes, First Responders and Honorably Discharged Veterans.
