According to John Garlock at Heartland Connection emergency crews were called to the scene on Potter Trail just outside Kirksville right before 8 p.m. Monday.

Adair County Sheriff Robert Hardwick told KTVO a man in his 50s or 60s had been working underneath a large vehicle frame, perhaps a semi frame, cutting it up, when the frame fell over on top of him and pinned him beneath it.

About half a dozen emergency responders lifted the frame off of the man.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Adair County Coroner Brian Noe.

Noe said no one is exactly sure when the incident happened.

Hardwick said the man’s wife had been trying to reach him by cell phone for quite awhile.

His body was discovered under the frame at approximately 7:45 p.m. Monday.

The victim’s name is not being released until his family is notified.
