Some of the events include a Hometown Hootenanny on that Thursday night;Hammer Toe and the Fun Guys perform on Friday night; the Mercer Homecoming parade is that Saturday at 1 o'clock; there's a country and southern gospel performance by Mercy's Bridge Band. Saturday night, it's the Rumbley Brothers Band.

Sunday events September 1st include the alumni dinner in the North Mercer school commons. It's a catered dinner so advance registrations can be done with Roberta Searcy of Mercer. Afternoon events include A-T-V dirt bike racing.

There's a free barbecue picnic that evening hosted by local churches and Mercer Ministerial Alliance. That will be followed by community church services featuring four local churches, Melissa King – president of Sonrise Childrens' Home – and the house parents: Jane and Leonard Wilmes. A special guest will be country and gospel singer Elise Marie of Grinnell, Iowa.

A number of prizes will be given away during merchant drawings held during each of three nights at the Mercer homecoming.

A carnival is listed for each night. Arm bands good for unlimited rides each session are sold in advance through August 28th for 15 dollars at businesses and from Homecoming committee members. They'll cost five dollars more at the carnival.
