Accidents : Four Hurt In Accident Near Fayette

The highway patrol reports two elderly Brookfield residents and four teenagers from Boonville received minor injuries when a sport utility vehicle attempted to pass a car making a left turn.

The accident occurred around midnight Sunday night, Southwest of Fayette. Two persons in the s-u-v , Ronald and Verna asher, both 84 and from Brookfield, were taken to Boone hospital at Columbia.

Four Boonville residents in a car, Matthew Raney, Courtney Nickerson, and Bradley Goon,all 17 years old, as well as 18-year old Dylan Vanwinkle were taken to Cooper County Memorial hospital at Boonville.

The patrol said a fifth person in the car, 16-year old Alyssa Albin of Boonville, refused treatment at the scene.

The accident occurred on Highway 5 at county road 324 southwest of Fayette. Both vehicles were northbound. The patrol said the driver of the SUV, Ronald Asher, attempted to pass as the car driven by Matthew Raney was making a left turn.

Damage was listed as extensive to the car and moderate to the sport utility vehicle.

The patrol said Vanwinkle was the only person not using a safety device.
