A Grundy County teenager missing since Thursday afternoon and the man who allegedly kidnapped her from a Gilman City location were taken into police custody Friday night in Kansas City, Kansas.
St. Joseph News Press quotes Kansas City, Kansas Police as reporting 15 year old Bailey Ann Summers and 23 year old Elijah McPike, both of Trenton were taken into custody at 7:30 p.m.
at 82nd Street and Georgia Avenue. Police spotted the vehicle at North 83rd Terrace and Haskell Avenue and then later found them nearby.
Video shot from a helicopter on KCTV-5 tonight showed a man and a young girl separately taken into custody by police who later confirmed they were McPike and the missing Summers girl.
Late Friday night, Harrison County Sheriff's Department officials said McPike was held at the Wyandotte County, Kansas Jail. The teenage girl was held temporarily at a detention center for juveniles until being picked up and taken to Harrison County by sheriff's department personnel.
The Harrison County Sheriff's Department had issued an endangered person advisory for
Bailey Summers. McPike was charged late Thursday night with one felony count of kidnapping and one misdemeanor for violation of an order of protection.
