The proposed levy is four dollars and 26 cents on the 100 dollars of assessed valuation. That's down by nearly ten cents from last year's ($4.3577) levy. The 2013-14 Trenton R-9 levy allocates three dollars and 36 cents to the incidental fund and 90 cents continues in debt service. The lower levy has been proposed due to a significant increase in the assessed valuation of the school district.

That assessed valuation is up by nearly one and three quarter million dollars. Figures provided by the district show real estate and personal property at 75 million, 556 thousand dollars. Total assessed valuation includes 506 thousand dollars in new construction and improvements. This generates more than 21 thousand dollars in local revenues.

A public hearing, prior to adoption of the next school levy, is scheduled at 5:30 pm on Tuesday August 13th prior to this months' regular meeting of the R-9 board of education.
