April Coale of Cainsville is the recipient of a 25 hundred dollar college scholarship from the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association. Grand River Mutual, based in Princeton, contributed 500 dollars with two thousand coming from the Foundation for rural service.

The national scholarship program awarded over 98 thousand dollars to youth in rural areas across the country. Out of more than 15 hundred applications, just 35 scholarships were awarded to high school seniors who've just graduated.

According to Grand River Mutual, April Coale will attend a vocational technical school in Springfield where she will major in hospitality and culinary arts.

Grand River Mutual General Manager Ron Hinds, in a statement, said the scholarship program enables rural telecommunication providers to show their support of the youth living in the communities served by the telephone company.
