The hopes of a MINK League Northern Division championship for the Chillicothe Mudcats and St. Joseph Mustangs both disappeared within the past two nights, with the Clarinda A's celebrating a division title on Wednesday night after defeating the Omaha Diamond Spirit, while Chillicothe beat the Mustangs, 9-3 at Phil Welch Stadium.

Chillicothe's hopes went up in smoke on Tuesday night after a 6-3 loss to Clarinda at Shaffer Park. Wednesday night's victory improves Chillicothe to 22-21 overall, and 16-20 IN MINK League play.

Clarinda, by virtue of the North crown, will play either Nevada or Sedalia in the best-of-3 MINK League Championship Series next week. Nevada leads Sedalia by ONE game in the South Division race with Nevada having five league games remaining (four at home), and Sedalia three. After being idle on Wednesday night, those two squads will play head-to-head at Nevada both Thursday night and Saturday night.
