24 year old Jameson Read of Trenton pleaded not guilty of charges accusing him with second degree murder and armed criminal action in the July 3rd shooting death of John Vencill of Trenton. The case was continued to July 23rd.

Charges of accusing Read with speeding 95 miles per hour in a 60 zone and failing to secure a child under the age of eight in a child restraint or booster seat on May 22nd were also continued to July 23rd.

38 year old Rebecca Gamble of Trenton waived a preliminary hearing and was bound over to Division One of circuit court on a stealing charge. Ms. Gamble is accused of taking coins owned by Charles and Mary Langewisch between December of last year and May of this year.

33 year old John Ruot of St. Joseph waived a preliminary hearing, and was bound over to Division One of circuit court on a charge accusing him with driving while intoxicated, persistent offender.

Ruot was accused of DWI in April. The charge notes he was twice convicted of DWI, once in Buchanan county in 2009 and again in the state of Nebraska in 2011.

Misdemeanor charges accusing Ruot of driving while his license was suspended, and, failure to drive on the right half of the road, both in April, were certified to be heard in Division One.

34 year old Jeremy Sharp of Laredo waived a preliminary hearing and was bound over to Division One on a charge accusing him with non support of three children.

52 year old Harold Stiner, with addresses listed at several area communities, waived a preliminary hearing on a charge of non support of a child. Stiner was bound over to Division One of Circuit Court.

In another case, Stiner admitted to violating his probation. Special judge Tom Alley revoked the probation, and sentenced Stiner to 56 days in the Grundy County Detention Center. He was given credit for already serving those days. Stiner was on probation on a charge of non support of a child.

34 year old Jeannie Burkhart of Excelsior Springs pleaded guilty to an amended charge accusing her with non support of a child. Ms. Burkhart was put on two years probation. She's required to pay the money owed, plus $116.00 court costs. The charge was amended from a felony to a misdemeanor.

55 year old Antoni Gear of Liberty pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated in January. Gear was sentenced to 180 days in the Grundy County Detention Center.

Judge Alley suspended execution of the sentence, and put Gear on two years probation. Gear is required to spend four days shock time in jail on weekends, pay the jail boarding fee, a $300.00 fine, $118.00 of the costs associated with his arrest, and, $116.00 court costs. A plea agreement was involved.

41 year old Gary Riddle of Trenton pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of third degree domestic assault on Misty Riddle, as well as resisting detention by fleeing on foot from Trenton police officers. The incident took place on June 14.

Judge Alley sentenced Riddle to 37 day sin the Grundy County Detention Center, giving him credit for already serving 25 days. The remaining 12 days are to be served concurrently with an unrelated case. They may be served in the Department Of Corrections.

24 year old Kenny Roberts of Jameson pleaded guilty to five counts of passing bad checks. The prosecution dismissed four other counts accusing Roberts with passing bad checks.

Roberts was put on two years probation, with the stipulation that he pay restitution of $1112.00 plus court costs of $116.00.

20 year old Jackson Anderson of Trenton pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit passing a bad check.

Anderson was put on probation for two years, given 13 days of shock time in jail, and required to pay $390.00 boarding costs, $331.00 restitution, and, $116.00 in court costs. He was given credit for already serving the shock time.

A Gilman City resident, Miranda Hendricks, was found guilty of misdemeanor second degree property damage in April.

She was accused of kicking in a door at the Jeremy Hamilton residence damaging the trim.

Ms. Hendricks was put on probation for six months, and required to pay $326.00 restitution, and court costs of $116.00.

Judge Alley found Ms. Hendricks not guilty of a charge accusing her with misdemeanor first degree trespassing at the Jeremy Hamilton residence on that same date in April.
