Rachel N. Gannon, 17, of Kansas City was texting before she lost control of her vehicle another car, killing Loretta J. Larimer, 72, in Sept. 2011.

Gannon pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, third degree assault and texting while driving in May, 2012.

She admitted to texting before driving off the side of NW Skyview Road in Platte County on Sept. 26, 2011.

A 10-year-old passenger in Larrimer's car also sustained, non-life threatening injuries in the crash.

Gannon violated a five-year probation sentence, originally given by a Platte County Judge by request of Larrimer's family.

Gannon was later sentenced to one year in jail on the assault charge for violating her probation. She was allowed to continue to attend Platte County R-III High School and the sentence was deferred.

At a recent hearing, Gannon admitted to skipping school, prompting a judge to deliver the sentence Wednesday.
