Crop conditions improved with continued warm weather and scattered showers.

There were 5.6 days suitable for fieldwork. Topsoil moisture supply was 8 percent short, 82 percent adequate and 10 percent surplus. The east-central and the southeast districts were rated 20 percent and 19 percent surplus, respectively. Subsoil moisture supply was 5 percent short, 87 percent adequate and 8 percent surplus.

Corn silked was 7 percent complete, 18 days behind last year and 10 day behind normal (5-year average). Corn condition was 2 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 32 percent fair, 49 percent good, and 10 percent excellent. Soybean planting was 93 percent complete, 20 days behind last year but 2 days ahead of normal. The southwest district increased 26 points to 60 percent complete. Soybeans were 80 percent emerged, 16 days behind last year and 2 days behind normal. Soybean blooming was 1 percent complete. Soybean condition was 2 very poor, 6 percent poor, 33 percent fair, 53 percent good, and 6 percent excellent. Cotton squaring was 21 percent complete, 21 days behind last year and 11 days behind normal. Cotton condition was 5 percent poor, 34 percent fair, 57 percent good, and 4 percent excellent.

Rice condition was 3 percent poor, 38 percent fair, 35 percent good, and 24 percent excellent. Sorghum planting was 94 percent complete, 20 days behind last year but 1 day ahead of normal. Sorghum headed was reported in the north-central and northeast districts. Sorghum condition was 1 percent very poor, 3 percent poor, 47 percent fair, 47 percent good, and 2 percent excellent. Winter wheat harvested advanced 28 points to 51 percent, 23 days behind last year and 7 days behind normal. Winter wheat condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 53 percent good, and 16 percent excellent. Alfalfa hay 1st cutting was 94 percent, 28 days behind last year but 3 days ahead of normal. Alfalfa hay 2nd cutting was 23 percent, 25 days behind last year and 9 days behind normal. Other hay cut was 70 percent, 26 days behind last year, but same as normal.

Pasture conditions were 1 percent very poor, 2 percent poor, 21 percent fair, 61 percent good, and 15 percent excellent. Supply of hay and other roughages was 2 percent very short, 12 percent short, 82 percent adequate and 4 percent surplus. Stock water supplies were 1 percent short, 88 percent adequate and 11 percent surplus.
