Authorities are seeking a man wanted on felony warrants in five Northwest Missouri counties.
John Wayne Rothwell, 44, has warrants for his arrest out of Harrison County for stealing, with a $20,000 bond; DeKalb County for stealing by deceit, with a $50,000 bond; Gentry County for writing checks with insufficient funds, with an unknown bond; Atchison County, Kan. for making false reports, with a $20,000 bond; and Buchanan County for stealing, with a $25,000 bond.
Officials say Mr. Rothwell is known use checks with closed accounts, also known as washed checks, to make purchases and has targeted businesses that sell agricultural machinery and tire businesses in the past.
They say these types of businesses should be be diligent in confirming a check's validity in purchases before transferring goods.
Mr. Rothwell was previously featured on Midland Manhunt and moved from location to location before his capture last fall, and police say he has resumed criminal activities.
He is described as a white male who is 6 feet tall and weighs 220 pounds. He has balding brown hair, brown eyes, and usually a thick goatee.
Anyone with information is asked to notify their local law enforcement agency.
