This week the LCSO submitted 2 grant applications, 1 being a COPS Grant Application for a potential new deputy sheriff which will be assigned as a School Resource Officer for Chillicothe R-II Schools. The deputy would be our officer for 3 years but all costs will be paid for from the grant and school, there would be no cost of employment for Livingston County should we be awarded the grant. After 3 years the deputy may be fully employed by the school. Chief Deputy Michael Claypole authored this grant application.

The 2nd grant is for a continuation of the Deputy Sheriff Salary Supplemental Grant Funding from the State of Missouri. Sheriff Cox applied for an additional $18,917.97 which covers supplemental salary and employment costs for the sworn deputies to get their base pay to $28,000 and for the 3 making that or more provides them with an additional $100 per month.

Both grant applications were approved by the Livingston County Commission and Ms. Eva Danner-Horton was the Authorizing Official while Sheriff Cox is the Project Director.

The office has forwarded information to the proper authorities on scams which have been sent to local residents claiming to be from the FBI and other law enforcement agencies trying to get people to contact them or share personal information.

A rural Chillicothe resident reported her new license plate tabs were recently stolen from her vehicle.

On May 30th a deputy took a report of property damage to a vehicle which happened to have its windshield shattered when it met a truck on U.S. 65 south of Chillicothe. The driver of the truck was also contacted and a report prepared for the insurance company to review.

The Livingston County Sheriff's Office is seeking information on the owner or occupant(s) of a white colored older pickup which may be an extended cab or 4 door pickup which is very loud. Recent reports in the Chula area provides concern the occupants of this truck may be persons of interest in recent property damage where a window of a home was shot.
