According to court papers, a Kirksville officer attempted a traffic stop early Monday morning on Glidewell's vehicle. A second officer arrived at the scene since Glidewell had shown a history of being violent.

When one of the officers approached Glidewell's pickup, he began driving away. Following a short pursuit, the truck stopped. When Glidewell exited the truck, he approached the officer. When the officer used the device on him, it did not affect him, that's when Glidewell was shot with the Tazer at least two more times before he could be taken into custody.
