News : Livingston County Sheriff's Office Busy Over Holiday Weekend

The Memorial Day weekend kept the Livingston County Sheriff's office busy with calls and investigations.  One call assisted the Missouri State Highway Patrol on Highway 190 where a pickup had caught fire.  The owner/driver reported seeing another driver attempting to get his attention and soon realized his vehicle was on fire.

On May 27 a report of burglary and theft at a location on Liv 229.was investigated.  The Victim reported that unknown persons had entered the garage and stolen 3 coolers along with a variety of frozen meat from the freezer.  The Investigation continues.

On May 27 an investigation of theft from a location on Liv 430 outside of Dawn.  The victim reported unknown person(s) having removed wood boards off an old barn valued at $750.  the Investigation shows possible suspects as being a middle aged male and female driving a early 2000 model black colored Ford F-250 pickup extended cab or 4 door pickup.  The Investigation continues.

On May 25 there was a report of alleged Tampering with a Victim in the southern part of Livingston County.  The previous victim of a burglary was startled to hear the sound of a firearm or firework outside the home and later found part of a note which had been previously made about the home being invaded a few weeks prior.  A pickup described as possibly being a 1990’s model Chevrolet, black in color, with front end damage was seen leaving the area.  Other evidence was viewed at the scene.  The Investigation continues. 

The Livingston County Sheriff's office received a report on May 22 of person(s) using a boat without permission, damaging the boat prop, and stealing a cooler, dip net, and fire extinguisher from a location near Bedford.  Possible suspects are described as 3 teenagers, 2 male and 1 female, with a small blue colored Chevrolet car.  The Investigation continues.

The evening of May 25 the Livingston County Sheriff's Office assisted a local resident in obtaining a 96 hour Court order for a relative.  Later, the department transported the citizen to a treatment facility on the same Court order. 
On May 22 the department investigated a report of peace disturbance in Chula.  The information was collected from the victim and witnesses and the reported suspect was also interviewed. 

On May 23 the department investigated a report of burglary and property damage to a garage located on North 5th Street in Wheeling.  The investigation shows that someone broke a window and gained entry to the garage.  The Investigation continues.

Arrests: 

On the evening of May 23, a deputy was in Wheeling and received information from the law enforcement dispatcher of a blue colored Ford pickup which allegedly left a gas station and traveled east on U.S. 36 and there was a problem with the transaction. 

The deputy saw the vehicle pull into Wheeling and stopped the pickup and subsequently arrested William Oscar Taul, 58, Gladstone, for alleged Driving While Suspended and No Insurance.  Mr. Taul was taken to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office for processing and was interviewed by the Chillicothe Police Officer regarding the transaction in Chillicothe.

The department recently arrested a person for alleged Speeding, No Valid Drivers License, and possible DWI.  During the investigation it was determined the suspect was illegally in the United States and a call was made to ICE.  After several hours of no response from ICE the suspect was released on Court summons.

Two of our MOST WANTED fugitives have recently been arrested. 

Rudy Gingrich surrendered himself to authorities on May 24 on a Livingston County arrest warrant for alleged felony driving while revoked/suspended, driving 103 in a 55, failing to register a motor vehicle, and no auto insurance.

Gerald E. Scott Jr. was arrested by authorities in Buchanan County on May 24 on a Livingston County arrest warrant for alleged felony Passing bad check or no-account check of $500 or more.
