Tyrell Thirkield, son of Denita Elmore of Higginsville, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the Pirates at North Central Missouri College in Trenton next fall. He joins recruit Jory Woodson of the St. Louis area in the guard position.

At Lafayette County High School, Thirkield scored 1,855 points in his basketball career. His senior stats were 19 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, and 5 steals per game and his honors included All-Conference, All-District, and All-State teams. He was also team MVP.

Head Pirates Coach Steve Richman remarked, “Tyrell is a high-octane guy and will be a special player at NCMC. He has multiple weapons on the basketball floor as he can shoot outside as well as drive to the basket. He can also pass the ball extremely well. I am looking forward to having him join our team.”

Thirkield’s major field of study at NCMC is undecided; however, he intends to earn an Associate’s Degree and then transfer to a four-year university.
