Three persons received what the Highway Patrol called minor injuries in separate accidents Monday on Highway 136 in Mercer and Harrison Counties.
At a location three miles east of Princeton yesterday afternoon, 53-year old Darl Corbett of Promise City, Iowa was driving a dump truck when he approached a vehicle stopped at a Highway 136 bridge narrowed to one lane.
Officers said Corbett's eastbound truck crossed the center of the road then ran off the north side in an attempt to avoid the stopped vehicle. The truck crossed back onto 136 and started to skid when it ran off the south side and came to rest on its side. Corbett was released at the scene. His truck was demolished. He was wearing a seat belt.
Last night, in western Harrison county, two residents of Albany were injured in a two vehicle accident. Fifty-six year old Vicki Pepin and her daughter, 24 year old Sara Pepin, were taken by ambulance to Northwest Medical Center of Albany.
The Highway Patrol report stated they were in a sports utility vehicle that was struck in the side by another car.
Twenty-six year old Cally Stanton of Bethany was the operator of a car that had crossed the center line of 136 prior to the accident near New Hampton. Damage was listed as minor to both vehicles. One driver Vicki Pepin, was listed as NOT wearing a seat belt while the other two persons were using a safety device.
