News : Livingston County investigates livestock thefts
Posted by Tom on 2013/3/27 7:21:06 (278 reads) News by the same author

The Livingston County Sheriff's Department is investigating the theft of livestock from the southeastern part of the county. Two different locations have been the target of cattle and/or calf theft since mid-February.

The first location was a theft reported in February along LIV 312 where a total of three calves (two being January calves) and two cows (all Black Angus breed) were taken. The second location was a theft reported Saturday from a location on LIV 308 where twice, someone has stolen two black cows each time from that property.

The Livingston County Sheriff's Department is working with the Missouri Rural Crimes Task Force of the Highway Patrol and other agencies in these investigations. If you have cattle, Sheriff Steve Cox urges you to take additional precautions in protecting your property and livestock. Cattle thieves are said to prefer 'remote locations' and generally use corrals or pens that the livestock owner has on-site to load the animals. Should you have any information on these crimes, call (660) 646-0515.
