A father and daughter from St. Joseph were killed yesterday in a collision with a tractor trailer in northwest Missouri's Buchanan county. Unionville man receives injuries when his car strikes some trees.

Pronounced dead at the scene east of St. Joseph were 26 year old Jason Musser and five year old Charlene Musser. They were in a car, westbound on U-S 36, behind a tractor-trailer that was traveling slowly due to mechanical issues. The highway patrol said Musser
swerved into the passing lane but lost control and skidded into the rear of the trailer. His car was demolished. Minor damage was noted to the big rig which was driven by 52 year old Danell Hawkins of St. Joseph. HE wasn't hurt. The accident late yesterday morning occurred several miles east of St. Joseph. Of the two deceased victims, only the child was using a safety device (booster seat).
A Unionville man, 23 year old Daniel Verslues, was injured last night when—according to the highway patrol--he apparently fell asleep and his car traveled off Putnam county highway 149 and struck several trees.
Verslues received what the patrol called serious injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville. The accident, one mile south of Martinstown, demolished the car. The driver was using seat belts.
