KTTN/KGOZ Sports : Meadville sweeps District 11 basketball championships

The Meadville High School basketball teams swept a doubleheader at Green City High School on Saturday, winning the Class 1, District 11 championships and moving into Class 1 Sectional action at Chillicothe High School

The Lady Eagles downed Green City by a final score of 50-29. Haley Fitzpatrick led Meadville with 14 points, with Halee Neal adding 13, and Erin Shiflett 12. Alicia Albrecht had nine points for the Lady Gophers.

The Meadville boys won 62-36 over the Linn County Mustangs. Kolton Friesner and Cade Shiflett led Meadville with 18 points each. Josh Allen led Linn County with 10.

The Meadville boys are scheduled to play Hale at 6 o'clock on Tuesday night (weather permitting) at Chillicothe High School in the first round of the Class 1 state playoffs. The Meadville girls will play the Norborne Lady Pirates at 7:45. The Hale boys and Norborne girls won District 12 titles last week.
