Sports : Putnam County rolls to boys district win over Milan

The Putnam County Midgets, in a Class 2, District 6 game played on Monday night at Schuyler County High School, beat the Milan Wildcats by a score of 95-52. The game was broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com.

Milan played one of its best offensive games of the season, but the Wildcats lack of size struggled against the Putnam County offensive front, with Deion Hunt, a 6'7" senior, scoring a game-high 32 points. Trey Ream added 16, Cory Lewis 15, and Riley Wood 10 points for the Midgets. The Wildcats were led by Holden Stallbaumer with 23 points and Raul Palacios with 12.

Other final scores from Monday night at Schuyler County were: Marceline boys 50, Westran 39; Marceline girls 45, Westran 24; Schuyler County girls 54, Putnam County 46

From TUESDAY night at Class 1, District 11 (Green City), the seasons came to an end for the Tri-County girls and boys, in quarterfinal losses to the Meadville Eagles.

The Meadville girls beat Tri-County 56-18, with Haley Fitzpatrick scoring 21 points for the Lady Eagles, and Briana Hixson 11 for the Lady Mustangs.

The Meadville boys cruised to an 82-31 win over Tri-County, with Cade Shiflett scoring 18 points and Derek Smith 16 for the Eagles. Tyler Lane had 14 points for the Mustangs.
