Daviess County Associate Circuit Court Judge Daren Adkins is among 18 persons that the Appellate Judicial Commission says it plans to interview when it considers filling an open judge position on the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District.

A news release from the Appellate Judicial Commission says the list to be interviewed includes two women and one minority. Eleven are described from “outside the metropolitan area” Of the 11 who work in the public sector,
the commission said three are trial judges.

The commission plans to conduct interviews Monday in Kansas City. The news release states the public can attend and observe those interviews,
beginning at 8:30, at the Court of Appeals, Western District, 1300 Oak Street. The Appellate Judicial Commission plans to begin meeting at 4 o’clock on Monday to select three nominees for submission to the Governor.

A vacancy on the Western District Court of Appeals was created with the February 15th retirement of Judge James Smart Junior.
